Coast Guard Auxiliary Site
10:00-4:00 pm – Open House – Come down to the dock and learn about the group’s vessels, gear and crew. Crewed entirely by volunteers, the YKCGA operates as first responder to marine search-and-rescue emergencies on Great Slave Lake, and is tasked with all water-based search and rescue for the northern half of the lake. During an average summer, the CCGA attends approximately 12 incidents, most without serious casualty. Whenever possible, we also work to promote safe boating at local and regional boat and trade shows. We also provide safety support to a number of “on the water” community events, such as the Abilities Cup sailboat race, the Commissioner's Cup race, and the Float Plane Fly-In.

1:00 – 3:00 pm – Watercolour Workshop – Architect and artist Kayhan Nadji will lead this workshop behind his office on the waterfront across from Weaver and Devore. Participants will paint the view of houseboat bay from behind the building. This workshop costs $60 (to cover materials) and will be held weather permitting and there are only eight spots. All-day – Tie-Dye Try-Dye ($20) - Try your hand at tie dying and take away a souvenir T-shirt from your day at Ramble and Ride! We will show you some traditional tie-dye techniques, modern looks, some ancient shibori techniques and some fun reverse tie-dyes. This is not just for kids but a fun way to spend your day! We will provide aprons but old clothes might be a good idea. And if creating is not your thing, check out our wide selection of hand-dyed natural wearables available for purchase.

Discover the differences between grades and colours of nuts; have fun testing the hardness of various nut shells; learn the origins of various nuts and some of the modern day health benefits of adding nuts to your diet. You will taste eight unique roasts and discuss which foods and drinks pair well with the nuts. Pick up a free set of recipes and leave with a sample-size nut salad topper.
4:00-5:00 pm – Sing-a-long with TJ – Come join in an afternoon sing-along with TJ—old folk, country and pop favourites from years gone by. This is NOT a performance but a true sing-along good time.

Starting at 5:00 pm – Denendeh Sunrise Anniversary BBQ and live concert – CKLB is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its morning show, Denendeh Sunrise. Join hosts Hilary Bird and William Greenland for a community BBQ full of everyone’s favourite traditional meats and all the bannock you can possibly eat, as well as a free outdoor concert performance by a host of local musicians. Just bring your lawn chair down to the log cabin across the causeway on Latham Island to join in. If you can’t make it down, listen in on the celebration during the live broadcast on CKLB 101.9 FM!
